A good friend of mine, Bill Nissim, recently published his latest article on virtual worlds. You may have seen his previous article here and here, which was about my very own SLQuery.com search platform. Bill has graciously allowed me to reprint his latest article in full, here on the Virtual Searches blog.

Virtual World Transition: What SL Business Model Works Best?
Published March 31, 2007 General , SL Businesses , virtual worlds 0 Comments
A few days ago, Dalian Hansen introduced our very own bear named QQ. In the same tradition as the various collectible Linden Bears, QQ is free to share and trade.
And QQ has become quite popular! Within a few days of his release, QQ has been downloaded over 30 times. Not bad for a little bear that hasn’t had any PR. I didn’t realize there were that many collectors out there, but I’m glad they like him.
You can get QQ at SL Exchange, SLBoutique, or at my new Headquarters in Second Life. The HQ is still under development, but I expect to make a formal announcement of it soon.
So thanks, QQ, for spreading the word about SLQuery.com.
Update to SLQ Web Tab Profiles
Published December 11, 2006 General , SLQuery.com , Second Life 0 CommentsI’ve updated the web tab profiles available through slquery.com so that they now include navigational buttons such as back, forward, home, and refresh.
In addition, clicking on images for items now shows correctly sized within the web tab browser.
And finally, clicking on an item’s more information link also shows correctly sized within the web tab browser.
I’m confident these changes will make using the SLQ profiles much nicer in the long run.
Enjoy!

Lorelei of the Alliance Library system and Info Island wrote up a nice blog entry about the work I did on their Library Search HUD.
The Library Search HUD is essentially the same as the normal search hud with some added links specifically for their project as well as searches against the WorldCat database and the FindArticles.com website.
You should definitely look up Info Island and the Second Life Library 2.0. They are creating an awesome set of islands out there with themed exhibits and tons of information related resources.
I’ve begun to work on my new deployment strategy for each of the SLQuery.com products as well as any new Tretiak Media products. To date I’ve admittely waffled with the version numbers as I tried to match those of my *MEG* update server, which is a very nice update server by the way, and my own internal versions.
I think I’ve only managed to confuse everyone including myself! I should know better!
So, starting with the next set of releases, I’ll be revamping the versioning system and getting that all straightened out.
In order to work closer to my own style of versioning I’ll be releasing my own version of an update server soon as well. This server should prove to be pretty useful to others too, so I’ll make it available to the marketplace soon.
Welcome to my new weblog, designed to discuss the SLQuery.com™ website, information exchanges in the virtual world, and various other adventures I might encounter inside the Second Life® metaverse.
